THE IMPACTS OF EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT ON THE OPERATIONS OF SMALL SCALE BUSINESS 
ABSTRACT
It has been pointed out that some small scale industries are not effective enough due to poor operation and management of the business.
Many firms do not want to take risks and so as a result of small scale of their operation.  This small firms are usually located in strategic places where the demand for their product is fairly high, this has contributed to the growth of towns in Ekiti State and Nigeria as whole.
However, the objective and purpose of this study is to access and verify how the impact of effective management on the operations of small scale business in Ikere – Ekiti.
In this project, the definition problem and cause of small scale industries are ineffective, it also include poor transportation and lack of fund that is inadequate capital.  Government laid down rules and regulation also affect some of small scale industries.
The researcher suggested that manager should undergo managerial training in order to acquire skills and techniques of the business, they must also employ competent workers.  The government has a vital role to play in small scale industries they should provide necessary infrastructural facilities like good roads and communication between rural and urban areas.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Background of the study
It has been noticed that failure among small scale industries are caused by management inefficiency.  The major difficult facing small scale industries is bad management. Only few of business owners will admit that they are bad managers, their assumption about their failure always are poor location . excessive competition, inadequate scales and some claimed that external economic condition were the cause of operation’s collapse.  Yet, others pointed the fingers of blame for the operation’s downfall handful of it’s key managers.   In reality, there were great may who should have received the blame, many specific causes were cited to explain why failure in small scale industries occurred.  But, to the astute observers, one underlying causing of the operation collapse stood out poor management.
Poor management is the root of cause most of the operating problem of small scale industries. A keen observation revealed clearly that sound management practices were lacking. Long range goals and plans, for instance, were practically non – existent labour relations were bad. On numerous occasion the employees pilfered from the industry or used it supplies and resources inappropriately or for personal benefit.
Many of those responsible for the operations various departments were in competent in their respective technical fields, may were not. however, little or no concern was raised either about those who were ill prepared or those who performance were not value as much as loyality to the industry and it’s managers leaders.
In the past, economic conditions were such that small scale industries makes heavy profit, as demand for it’s product was strong. But, over the years the world and industry became increasingly complex. Thus more effective and efficient methods of fore casting planning, coordinating activating and controlling were needed to combine the demands of productive enterprise. In thus operation, they were ignored. The one (sometimes exclusive) ingredient that is absolutely essential, the factors that brings money, materials equipment and people together than the sum of the past –namely sound management was missing.
The proper blending of those management function passes the ability of finding immediate solution to any management problem encourted in a small scale industries.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The research work is concerned with bringing into limelight of the impact of effective management on the operation of small scale business in Ikere­- Ekiti local government. The role of small  sc ale industries in the development of Nigeria cannot be over emphasized. Industries are provide some basic material and employment. As a result of these role, it is considered necessary that small scale business units should be improved and promoted. If this is not done effectively, the national product will be very low.
Despite the new modern technology and government aid in developing industrialization in Nigeria there are still some problem militating against the impact and effectiveness of
Small scale industries in the area. This has led the researcher to  this study.

THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
The purpose of the study are as following
1)      To identify the impact of the management effectiveness towards the    operation of small scale business.
2)      To show the role of management in the effective business set.
3)      To mention some of the prospects of small scale industries and services.
4)      To stress the importance of risk a version in small scale business.
5)      To find out the impact of small scale business on the part of the employee and community at large.
RESEARCH QUESTIONS
In this research work, the following question will be answered.
i.                    Is the management of small scale industries effective enough in organization?
ii.                   Is this impact of management felt on the operation of the organization?
iii.               Do you agree that small scale industries play some roles in the economics development of Ikere – Ekiti.
iv.               Do you agree that small scale industries located in rural area percent migration of people from rural to urban area
v.                  Do small scale industries make good available to consumer in all nooks and crannies of Ikere -Ekiti local  government.

SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
This project will serve as a guide to those people who are aiming to site small scale industries in Ikere- Ekiti local government area.
This research will be of great importance to be business man by producing an sight into how top control their business venture.
This research work will intimate the state government with the likely problem facing the impact on the effective management and operation of small scale industries in Ikere-Ekiti.
It will also serve as a sort of motivait6fon of the people on how to plan, organize, control, Co-ordinate and direct the resources of small scale business in proper way in order to make profit.
This research will be very useful to any one man business any form of small scale business.
THE SCOPE/DE-LIMITATION
The study area is Ikere-Ekiti local government area. Since the creation of Ekiti-state, Ikere local government been the major commercial centre of Ekiti state. The major towns and villages, which surrounded this area, have benefited immensely in the economic activities going on in local government area.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
1)                Production: this is the process of  transform goods from one place to another.  In other word production is what we produce from the factory to the consumer.
2)                Industrialization: This is the process of increasing a nation size of economic activities e.g. manufacturing, construction, mining etc to national output in the economy.
3)                Firm: This is the unit of an industry that produce goods and services
4)                Taxation: This is a compulsory levy imposed by the government on individual and business firm and paid by them to the government.
5)                Management: The job of planning, organizing and controlling and Enterprise, particularly a business firm.
6)                Localization: This is the concentration of different firms producing related goods in a particular place.
The impacts of small scale on employee on Nigeria cannot be over emphasized, it is well known fact that it takes several years for a person to gain education and even more on top of that to achieve additional college firms demand labour.
