INTRODUCTION
Background of the Problems
In the past Traditional Rulers who by virtue of their ancestry occupy the throne or stool of on area seen as the overall heads in the society and are respected by the people in the community and his traditional ruler were otherwise known as paramount rulers who were selected from the royal family by the kingmakers.
The Traditional rulers, as it is all known are having some constitutional roles which they perform for the effective administration of domain. Also it is generally accepted that the Traditional rulers arte not to be actively involved in politics.
It is therefore sadden to see some traditional rulers involving in politics and perpetration of policies which are not in the interest of the people.
However, Traditional rulers as royal fathers who are appointed but not elected arte expected to be giving advice to the various political parties in the country are not performing their roles on this area but are participating in politics and majority of them and some still exercise some sort of favour to some particular candidate
Traditional rulers in real sense are supposed to be adviser to the elected leaders in or with in their domains this is because In democratic setting people believe in the controls by the elected than appointed leaders who at times may not reflect the wishes of the majority, but the involvement of Traditional rulers in politics has created some political problems in some localities.
Based on this Traditional, Rulers are both expected as such should not show or attempt to favor any political party or any particular candidate.
This topic the role Traditional rulers in the democratization (process’ will be an advice that Traditional rulers should have on special roles to play in policies or government beyond the roles spelt out in the Constitution.
Statement of the Problem
          The role of Traditional rulers in as stated in the constitutional and the ways the Traditional rulers dabbled into political system and their collision n with the government has put a land negative expectation within to mind to populace.
Hence, the following problems are to examiner.
1.                 Are Traditional rulers as custodians of tradition to be a members of any political party.
2.                 How the Traditional rulers involved in politics.
3.                 What is the impact of the Traditional rulers on democratization process?
4.                 Are traditional rulers expected to favour a certain political parties or sponsor a particular candidate during election?
5.                 What are the roles traditional rulers play in politics.
Research Questions
In connection with the purpose of this study a general question is roused which says.
a.     What is the interest of Traditional rulers in politics?
b.     What is the interest of Traditional rulers in politics?
c.      What should be the role of Traditional rulers in democracy?
d.     Are Traditional rulers neutral or non-partisan?
e.      What is the relationship between the Traditional rulers and politicians?
Significance of the Study
The purpose of this investigation is to study the role of Traditional rulers of Okitipupa Local Government in democratization process.
Specifically the study is set out to find the role of Traditional rules of Okitipupa Local  Government in democratization process.
Especially the study is set out to find the role of Traditional rulers. Performs in democratic setting, to find out the level of their participation in polities and how they have being making useful suggestion to the various political parties. To make recommendation or suggestion as to ways Traditional rulers should perform their role on democratization process.
Delimitation of the Study
The research delimited her study only to Okitipupa Local Government in order to make the study effective and to gather more information from people in the area.
Limitations of the Study
It is the wish of the researcher to extend her works to cover a very large are in Okitipupa Local Government like Governing about Four (4) important town or Local Government
However the researcher was confronted with a lot of problem which h hundred and limited her work to Okitipupa Local Government alone, some of the problem faced by the research are listed below:
i.                   Financial constraint
ii.                 The attitude of people towards giving out information on the topic
iii.              Fuel scarcity
iv.              Time factor
Definitions of Terms
For the purpose of easy understanding of this study the following definition will be found useful.
Ancestry: The group of people race from which one is described that is ones ancestors.
Democratic: This is a system of Government by all the people of a country.
Traditkional: This is the passing of belief or customs from one generation to the next
Traditional: The head of a town or villages.
Kings Makers:- These are the people or chief that install on “Oba” in a town or village
Campaign Programme: Planned activities of a particular political party
