ABSTRACT
The effect of Information Communication Technology (ICT) on science education in Ekiti State tertiary institution was investigated in this study.  Forty students (40) of the school of sciences of College of Education, Ikere and sixty students (60) of the faculty of science.  University of Ado – Ekiti with at least on teaching practice experience.  A self developed closed – ended questionnaire with Yes and No options was validated and administered to the correspondent.  The data collected was analyzed using chi – square.  The findings of this study shows that the current use of ICT in teaching of science education in schools will promote good mastery of the subject matter and motivate learners in science education classes.
It is therefore recommended that teaching of science education to students should be based on the use of ICT and that ICT should be made a compulsory course for science educators in training.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
          The entire world has been metamorphosized into a global village by information and communication Technology.  Information and communication Technologies are now no doubt, being accepted as part of our contemporary world as they are perceived as tools for rapid changes in technology, school, political and global economic transformation.  The penetrating influence of ICT is not only limited to these spheres of human endavour but also to the field of education where it is perceived as a transforming agent in education delivery and educational methodology.  As observed by Hanstrup (2004) perhaps the greatest achievement of the 20th and 21st centuries was the development and application of the ICT to all facets of human endeavour.  According to him, no work of science has so significantly impacted on the course of human development as ICT because it had positively transformed – effectively and efficiently every aspect of human life such as accountancy, agriculture, aviation, banking, commerce, communication, culture, entertainment, education, global security, journalism, library, medicine, research, science etc.
          As an agent of change in science education, the benefits of ICTs can be best estimated in terms of its potential as a source of knowledge, a medium to transmit content, a means of interaction a potential for providing access and creating opportunities for networking.
          Science education is the field concerned with sharing science content and process with individuals not traditionally considered part of the scientific community science is basically about becoming aware, exploring, understanding, and exercising some degree of control over the environment through the senses, and personal exploration (Erinosho, 2005).
Purpose of Study
          The purpose of this study is to critically look into the influence and effects of Information and communication Technology on science education. ICT has become a central focus of many educational fields, its use and integration has become a widespread in science education.  It examines the use of ICT for teaching and learning science, and highlights the facets and challenges of its utilization in promoting quality science education.  Furthermore, it identifies the militating problems and recommends plausible panacea for effective and efficient science education.
Significance of study
          In the 21st century, the influence of ICT is not negligible, hence the its significant to science education.  The result of this study will be significant to science educational planners in improving and encouraging the use of ICT in imparting science education in learner.  It also highlights the innumerable advantages of ICT as it relatives to science learning so that, the nation can produce not only science educated populace that is academically enlightened but also populace that is technologically and economically productive.
Statement of Problem
          Obviously, methods have changed from what it used to be of course greater heights can be achieved today with the use of information communication technology for science teaching.  One of the most current trend is the use of internet facilities for science teaching.
          This study is therefore meant to identity whether the effective use of ICT in teaching of science education is relevant or not.
Research Questions
i.                        Is there any relationship between Information and communication technology and science education?
ii.                        Is there any usefulness of information and communication technology to science education?
iii.                        What are the influence and effect of information and communication technology on science Education?
Hypothesis
i.                        ICT will not significantly enhance easy delivery of science education teaching
ii.                        ICT will not significantly provide necessary science education for the learners.
iii.                        ICT will not significantly help the science Education students to avail themselves with the opportunity of acquiring current science education knowledge and skill.
iv.                        ICT will not significantly foster interest and self direction for the science Education teacher and students.
Definition of Terms
Computer
          Computer according to Oxford Advanced Dictionary is electronic machine that corn store, organize and find information, do calculates; simple and complex, and control other machines.
Information
          Information is defined as fact or knowledge which is proved or banned.  Information according to Talabi (2000) is the body of knowledge which is meant to further broaden the horizon of the individual to which it is exposed.  Information is a refined and processed data.

Information Technology
          Information Technology is the study or use of systems such as computers and telecommunication gadgets for storing, retrieving and sending information, Longman Dictionary of contemporary English (2001) To Talabi (2002) IT is the means of facilitating the transmission of information as well as its management.
Communication
          Communication is the sending of messages, transmitting of ideas from a person to the other according to Afe et al (2004:5), communication is the art of passing across information, news, ideas to another person.
Technology
          Technology according to Oxford Advanced Learner Dictionary can be defined as ‘the study, mastery and utilization of manufacturing methods and industrial art, “systematic application of knowledge to practical tasks in industry.

Science
          Science is the knowledge about the structure and behaviour of the natural and physical world, base on the fact you can prove, for example by experiment.
