ABSTRACT
          This study examined the impact of using standardized and improvised instructional materials in teaching Business Studies in junior secondary schools, in Ikere Local government area of Ekiti State, the research design adopted was survey method and questionnaire method was used to collect necessary data used. Data were analysed using simple percentage.  Findings revealed that  there is a significant difference in the achievement of students taught using standard instructional materials, those taught with improvised instructional materials and those in the conventional instruction. Thus, Business Studies’ teachers need to be resourceful in instructional materials selection, planning and utilization so as to reduce the cost of production and maintenance of instructional materials. The researchers conclude that the utilization of improvised instructional materials promote and enhance effective teaching-learning process, it is therefore recommended that the usage should be encouraged.

CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
          Effective teaching of any subject will not only stimulate student’s interest in the subject but also enhance their achievement in the examination. To achieve effective teaching and learning process, there is the need for use of instructional materials.
          This study is carried out to examine the impact of using instructional materials in teaching Business Studies in Junior Secondary Schools, and their academic achievement.  instructional materials have some inherent advantages that make teacher unique in teaching. They provide the teacher with interesting and compelling platform for conveying information since they motivate learning to develop interest in learning process. Also, by providing opportunities for private study and reference, the leaner’s interest and curiosity are increasing stimulated.
          Instructional materials are in various classes, such as audio, visual or audio-visual. Thus audio instructional materials refer to those devices that make use of the sense of hearing only, like radio, audio  tape recording.
          Visual instructional materials on other hands, are those devices that appeal to the sense of sight only such as the chalkboard, chart, slide and filmstrip.
          An audio-visual instructional materials however, is a combination of devices which appeal to the sense of both hearing and seeing such as television, motion picture and computer. Among the instructional materials, the classroom teacher uses, the visuals out-numbered the combination of the audio and audio-visual.
          Ogunmilade (2012) the teacher can use instructional materials in various ways to make his effort more effective in producing learners (students) who are agile well-groomed and adequately informed.
          Savoury (2008) also added that, a well-planned and imaginative use of visual aids in lessons should do much to banish apathy, supplement in adequacy of books as well as arouse students interest by giving them something practical to see and do, and at the same time helping to train them to think things out themselves.
          Instructional materials helps in picture and image vividly in minds and memory of learner. Instructional materials have effectively proved a useful comparison in the pursuit of aspiration, knowledge and growth.
          In order to raise the quality of education, its efficiency and productivity, better learning materials are needed .

Statement of the Problem
          The use of instructional materials in teaching Business studies in Junior secondary schools is not encouraging.
          As a result, it makes the morale and interest of the students in Business studies low. Teachers adopt the verbalistic and theoretical method as a way of teaching and learning the subject. Non-availability of instructional materials in schools.
          To what extent does the use of instructional materials effect learning and students achievement in Business Studies in Junior Secondary Schools.

Purpose of the Study
          The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of using instructional materials in teaching business studies in Junior Secondary Schools in Ikere Local Government in Ekiti State which are:
         To investigate the extent of the availability of instructional materials in school
         To investigate whether the availability of instructional materials in schools is used
         To examine the factors that militate against the procurement of instructional materials for Business studies in schools
         To investigate the attitudes of schools administrator and the teacher towards the provision and utilization of instructional materials in schools
         To find out the impact in which instructional materials convey in bringing about the effective in teaching and learning process.

Significance of the Study
          This is centred on the importance as it would provide an index in the contribution of instructional materials to the attainment of the national policy on education objectives as it relates to Business studies.
          More specifically, it will also reveal some specific areas covered where more is required to be done in order to accomplish the slated objectives of junior secondary education in respect of vocational subjects.

 Scope of the Study
          This study examine the impact of using instructional materials in teaching Business studies in junior secondary schools in Ikere Local Government Area of Ekiti State
