ABSTRACT
This research study was carried out on the relationship between students’ aspiration and achievement in physics in selected secondary schools in Ekiti West and Ijero Local Government Area in Ekiti State. The main object of the study was to find out student choice of work in relation to physics. Besides, was poised to determine whether there is any relationship between students’ aspiration and achievement in physics.
Samples were obtained with one hundred students randomly selected from five secondary schools. Two research hypotheses were formulated to guide the research work. The hypotheses were analyses using T-test and percentage. The result of hypotheses tested reviewed that there id relationship between students’ academic achievement in physics and their aspiration to further in physics related discipline while the second hypothesis tested reviewed that there is no difference on the basis of gender in students’ aspiration to pursue physics related discipline. It can be deduced that there is a significant relationship between students’ academic achievement in senior secondary school physics and their aspiration to further in physics related discipline. It is therefore recommended that school administrators should constantly provide the necessary resources for physics learning environment in order to treat topics the require practical approach for effective learning to take place and to let students’ have interest in physics, and they should also make sure that resources are available and function properly to encourage the students.
